I've always loved learning new things. The two things I'd become most passionate about - design and sports - were always at the centre of that learning. I learned to draw, paint and animate through flipbooks, claymation and paper cutouts, and taught myself the fundamentals of design after picking up Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator at thirteen years old. I also played soccer, tennis and even learned archery at one stage, believe it or not. But these two worlds would stay apart for a long time.

Even though I had decided to go down the design path after high school, the sports side of things still held its importance to me. I regularly coached kids in soccer, blogged about soccer tactics and I still play tennis in provincial tournaments. Deciding between the two was always going to be a tough decision for me.

So, in early 2013, after toying with the idea for a while, I finally combined my two passions on a blog called www.lovefootballhatefootball.com where I redesign soccer logos. It did much better than I expected and then all of a sudden I had to consider a lot more than just the design itself.

The things that are important to a sports fan, such as tradition and integrity, made me think about the bigger picture and how important good branding, marketing and advertising really is. And that's why I wanted to write this blog.
